Frequently asked questions

A comprehensive home protection plan is so much more than a warranty. Designed to protect your home from unexpected repairs and help homeowners take control, you’re covered on all angles.

Benefits include:

  • Peace of mind

If you're asking, “How will I pay for sudden home expenses?”— a home protection plan is your answer. When an unexpected breakdown happens, we want you to be thinking about next steps — not worrying "How will I pay?”

For a low monthly fee, you can effectively cap repairs at $50 per issue. If broken beyond repair, we’ll even contribute to the costs of replacement* to help you source a new product. Being a homeowner just got a lot more affordable.

  • Simple claim process

Your warranty claim process shouldn’t be more complicated than paying out of pocket. We’ve designed a plan that makes it easy to claim. Just submit a request, and we’ll dispatch a vetted, qualified service technician within 48 hours.

We’ve all heard stories of that pesky neighbour who builds a fence on your side of the property line. Have you heard the one about the contractor who caused damage and refused to fix it? What can you do when someone has legally wronged your property?

Protecting your home doesn’t start and end with appliances and home systems. As your greatest asset, your home should be protected on a legal level too.

Included with your protection plan is access to unlimited legal support hotline. Call 1-888-865-9711 anytime to get support and answers on legal issues relating to your home.

You can cancel your home protection plan with ATCO Energy any time. Keep in mind that there is a $50 fee to cancel your warranty protection plan. 30 days’ notice is required.

Yes, there is a 30-day waiting period to make a claim on your Home Systems Protection Plan, starting the day you sign up. Once the 30 days have passed, the warranty in your protection plan will be fully active and open to claims.

Saving for repairs is a wise idea, but unexpected breakdowns can (and often do) exceed homeowner savings. When it comes to core home systems, a repair can’t wait. Paying out of pocket may put your whole budget in jeopardy.

When you sign up to a warranty protection plan, you essentially set a boundary on what you’ll pay. The monthly protection plan fee (plus a $50 fee per repair issue) will give you peace of mind and overall savings.

Most homeowners with warranty plan protection find they save money. They also have a more consistent idea of what repairs will cost. All of this helps budget for home expenses, making a warranty plan well worth it!
